Crayford are to continue their regular Saturday night opens until the start of their festival of racing which includes the Gold Collar, Cesarewitch and Guys And Dolls which take place in the latter half of September.

Ladbrokes Head of Stadia Richard Brankley said: “We have the £1,000 hurdle final next weekend, followed by a £1,000 540 metre event, plus supporting opens over various distances. We want to provide ample opportunity for outside runners to get used to the track.”

Meanwhile, the success of the track renovation work has led to a review of the stadium’s kennel strength.

Brankley said: “We are not really short but I think there is an opportunity to improve the quality of racing. So although we won’t be advertising for a new trainer, if the right kennel was interested in joining us, it is something I feel we should consider.”

Barry O’Sullivan currently leads the local championship with 310 winners, some 69 clear of closest rival Julie Luckhurst who has a marginally higher winning percentage.

Unleashthenight (Tubbertelly Dubh-Shelbourne Miss, May 13) stretched his lead in the 2016 Crayford’s winner’s table with his 11th victory on Saturday night. Paul Tompsett’s dual distance black has been to traps on 31 occasions and would show a net profit of £195 if you had bet £10 on him every time he went to traps this year.

The most versatile runners have been Monmore Diamond and Southest Twister with victories of 380m, 540m and 714m.
