It may be a case of the lull before the storm, but this was probably one of the quietest weeks of the racing year in Ireland. The majority of the top middle distance stars were away from the track preparing for their Irish Derby exploits with the Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk being the most high profile event. Ballymac Bigmike won his 15th race of the year when taking his semi.
There was only one ‘fastest of year’ performance in the last seven days and that went to Nikitas Loch who took full advantage of a Newbridge circuit that has been running particularly well over the last month.
