The victory of Droopys Buick in the £5,000 Lawrence Jones Festival Dogs stakes at Monmore on Friday may well have cemented Jimmy Wright’s participation in next year’s Trainers Championship meeting at Sittingbourne.

Wright now moves into fifth place in the table and with the top six trainers qualifying and one of them Pat Rosney unlikely to take part, Wright could well be making several visits south to Sittingbourne in February.

Northern Puppy Derby winner Droopys Buick was soon clear in the decider and went on to slam kennelmate Maum Legend by five lengths in 27.84sec.

Paul Young’s Jaytee Spartacus justified 4-5 favouritism in the Festival Puppy Stake when he made all to hold Barricane Bullet by just under two lengths in 28.22sec.

Richard Devenish’s Romany Rouge picked up long-time leader Deanridge Pennys in the Festival 684 final to score by three quarters of a length in 41.09sec.

Seamus Cahill’s Track record holder Southfield Jock rode a first bend bump before forcing his way to the front in the Festival 416 Final to eventually beat Boyneside Fun by just over four lengths in 24.20sec.
