All England Cup winner Newinn Yolo returned to Newcastle to win the £5,000 Pin Point Recruitment Healthcare Stakes Final over 480 metres writes Jason Craddock.

Pat Rosney’s runner, the 7-4 joint favourite, trapped out well and was level with market rival Viking Jack at the opening turn.

Viking Jack, the other 7-4 joint favourite was bumped out of contention at this point and it left Newinn Yolo clear and he capitalised in style and went on to beat Conna Trigger by six lengths in a rapid 28.27sec.

Pat’s partner Julie McCombe said afterwards: “It’s great to follow up Swift Hoffman’s Scottish Derby win with this victory.

“It was a hot final and he had to do it right and beat some good dogs in the final.”

Rosney added: “We’ll take him to Wimbledon now and I’ve got trials booked for the next three Saturdays.”

William Hill quote him a 25-1 shot for the Derby.

 

Pond Genesis was a shock 16-1 winner of the scrappy Pin Point Accounts Puppy Stakes over 480 metres.

The favourite Droopys Vodka missed the kick but paced up to the turn where he was hampered.

Meanwhile Swift Carter and Harry Williams’ Pond Genesis were disputing the lead with the latter going to the front down the far side.

Droopys Vodka recovered well and moved up into contention once again, however he was hampered again and Droopys Genesis went on to beat him by two and a half lengths in 29.12sec.

Williams said: “I didn’t expect this but he ran really well and is a total novice. He can only get better.”

Colliery Jazz was another shock winner of the total Recycling Sprint over 290 metres.

Walshes Hill went to traps the 1-4 favourite but fluffed his lines at the start and it was left to Paul Rutherford’s 20-1 shot Colliery Jazz to make all and beat Tornaroy Thrill by two lengths in 17.27sec. The favourite never got into contention.

Connections remarked: “He’s been in good form winning his last two D2 races but in truth we were hoping for second, so this is great.”

Burnfoot Alpha (2-1f) provided some respite for punters by landing the Winning Lines British Bred Standard over 480 metres.

The son of Droopys Scolari was led everywhere bar the line by Mollys Reggie but got up on the stick to score by a head in 28.85sec.

Darren Golightly said: “Raymond Thompson bred him and I got him at four months old and he battled hard to win.”

Greenwell Lark was another winning favourite in the Pin Point Recruitment Seniors over 480 metres.

Pat Flaherty’s dual Oaks finalist was led to the third turn by Killacolla Ka Ka but swept past to beat Scotswood Road by almost four lengths in 28.85sec.

Son John Flaherty said afterwards: “She’s mixed it with the best and ran well to land her first ever race at the track. As soon as she comes in season we’ll breed with her.”

Lowgate Jasper was the third favourite in a row to win when successful in the Total Recycling Services 640.

Jim Hayton’s runner was led until the fifth turn by first time over the trip Magical Reid but swept past to score by almost five lengths in 39.17sec.

Hayton said: “He ran very wide but finished strongly. He’s running very consistent and is in the form of his life.”

2014 Monmore Puppy Derby winner Farloe Nutter came back to top form when landing the William Hill Derby Win and You’re In Trial Stakes over 480 metres.

George Power’s runner flew out and made all to repel Sidarian Blitz by a length and a half in 28.54sec.

Owner Kenny Glen said: “The dog had a bad wrist injury and never ran for six months but he on his way back and we’ll give him a trial at Wimbledon now.”

He is now a 100-1 chance with the sponsors for the Derby.

Up for sale Pinpoint Classic was another winning favourite of the Jimmy Roberts Memorial Maiden Final over 480 metres.

Kelly Macari’s runner, the 6-4 favourite, was soon clear and went on to hold the staying on Vicarage Nipper by two and a half lengths in 28.73sec.

A kennel spokesman said: “He’s had his setback and he’s come through them well. When he gets it right at the start he’s a good dog and held on really well.”
