Three Category One winners will contest next Tuesday’s final of the Betfred Eclipse after last night’s semi-finals over 500 metres at Nottingham writes Jason Craddock.

Barrie Draper’s Sussex Cup winner Ballymac Mossjoe set the standard in the first eliminator when leading from trap to line to beat Puppy Classic winner Crossfield Cesar by two and a half lengths in 29.57sec.

Heather Dimmock’s Blackstone Marco was a surprise 7-1 winner of the second qualifier when making all the running to beat Yarmouth Derby winner Do It For Twiggy by a length and a quarter in 29.62sec.

The second qualifier saw the demise of ante-post favourite Eden the Kid after a slow start and plenty of trouble. The race went to Pat Rosney’s 20-1 shot Swift Carter who passed the pace-making Express Master on the third turn and went on to beat Pinpoint Boom by just over three lengths in 29.94sec.
