Bromwich Sue had her first spin since finishing runner-up to Cashen Maureen in the Oaks final at Belle Vue last month in a sprint trial over 305 metres at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium on Monday.

Lynn Cook’s bitch clocked a useful 17.63sec and is set to go over 500 metres next week.

Cook said: “She ran great at Belle Vue and then we decided to give her a short break. The time she did in the sprint was very pleasing and she will have a four bend spin before we look for a race for her.

“There’s not much on for bitches at present so she will probably have a race at Nottingham before we consider taking her further afield.”

Litter brother and kennel mate Bromwich Tom went slightly quicker at the same session when recording 17.56sec.

Alma Chic, who was also in that Oaks Final at Belle Vue, was voted Nottingham’s Bitch of the Year for 2014. Alec Stone’s bitch won eight times in the year since starting off in May. She was ultra-impressive on Boxing Day when pulling clear from the first turn to land an A1 by over seven lengths in 29.97sec (+10).

Laurence Tuffin’s Dunbolg Bill was voted as the Dog of the Year. The son of Tubbertelly Dubh won 12 times in the year rising from A4 class to top grade.
