Winning owner Andy Bird said: “He wasn’t trapping out of the curly fronted traps at Sittingbourne so we brought time here and it seems to have done the trick.

“He was very novicy in the heats but tonight flew out and did it well. He was two in April but hasn’t had much running and hopefully can keep improving.”

Tin Soldier lowered the colours of hot favourite Mays Teejay in the final of the Stadium Bookmakers Sprint Final over 305 metres.

Gerry Ballentine’s 5-1 shot was soon clear and held the late flourish of the evens favourite by a length and a half in 17.84sec.

Kevin Cobbold’s runner was soon clear and went on to beat Coolowen Sonny by three lengths in 17.74sec.

David Pruhs’ Hilldun Break led from the opening turn in heat two to hold off Quivers Lima by a length in 17.87sec.

Pat Rosney’s Kevs Superted was a shock 10-1 winner of heat two when missing most of the trouble to come through late and beat Aura Jetaime by almost two lengths in 18.38sec.

Kilara Razz set the standard in the heats of the Stadium Bookmakers 480 Trophy.

David Pruhs’ runner was soon clear and went on to hold Some Turbo by a length and a half in 28.58sec.

Mick Hurst’s Rock Me Kewell was soon clear in heat three and scored a near five length victory over Bandicoot Zebo in 28.90sec.
