Just as the Gold Jacket threw up the ultra competitive ‘heat four’ which resulted in the loss of ante post favourite Brigadier Bullet, the laws of chance have had a bit of sport with the third heat of the Springbok.
The top two qualifiers, Droopys Denny and King Nelson are in opposition, along with the seventh quickest novice hurdler to date, Piemans Bullet.
Despite a potential entry of 44 qualified runners, the event fell short of the planned 36 first round runners and will now be split into four qualifiers which take place at Central Park on Sunday night.
