NOTTINGHAM ADVERT2Team Lister did not spend long licking their wounds after Cloran Paddy’s Derby defeat. Youngster Sidarian Padre (Vans Escalade-Drive Ahead, Aug 14) was the ideal tonic after another hugely impressive performance at Nottingham.

Running in black, the 5-4f did not have things his own way after being forced wide at the first bend but a backstraight burst of pace saw him take command from Derryadd Dynamo and he duly got home by a length and three quarters in 29.09 (+10) for the 480m.It was his third win in five races, the defeats coming in the first round of the Derby and a narrow second place at Doncaster having given the field an eight length start.

Padre’s time was put into context by the winners of the three competition heats. Quickest of the trio was Pennys Jess’s (Zero Ten-Tyrur Orl, Nov 12) who clocked 28.82 when winning for the fourth time in her last eight races, Oscarsupreme (Head Bound-Milliesupreme, May 13) went around in 29.05 and Swift Jinx (Vans Escalade-Zaras Princess, Aug 14) won in 29.42.

Quickest over the 500m was Padre’s kennelmate and the fastest dog at Doncaster this year, Oscar Whisky (Droopys Oscar-Droopys Daneel, May 14). The 8-11f beat a field of regular winners including Mustang Major, Fearless Phantom and Bromwich Sue by a length and a bit in 29.94.
