Successful Syndicate The Jabber Crew cannot wait to see the end of 2020 after a disastrous year.

The group of friends who enjoyed so many great nights with Donation, Stardom, Volcanic Reef and Make No Apologie have seen a series of injury problems followed by a bitter dispute over a new purchase.

Head of the Jabbers, Adam Duncan said: “Volcanic Reef and Make No Apologie had their first races back after injury at Central Park on Sunday and it didn’t go well for Apologie.

“It was a very messy race, he was beaten a long way and afterwards we have a lot of enquiries checking whether he had gone lame again. Fortunately, although he was badly bumped about, there doesn’t seem to have been any long term damage. He is off to Daniel Doherty (vet) for confirmation.

“Volcanic Reef came off okay after such a long break and Quivers Guess, our young pup ran very well to finish third. Our other bitch Stardom had a long seasonal break away from racing but is starting to show she is returning to her best and we are targeting the St.Leger.”

Not going so well is a dispute over an expensive young bitch from Ireland.

Adam said: “We paid a lot of money for her after a 28.50 run at Newbridge and she trialled well for Heather (Dimmock). She was sampled as part of her marking up and then we had a letter from GBGB saying she was ten times over the limit for an anti inflammatory drug.

“We immediately contacted the seller in Ireland and sent her back but we are still waiting for our money back and the owner has stopped taking our calls.

“At one level you could say it was a good advert for ‘point of entry’ sampling because it exonerated Heather from any blame. But it was too late after we had paid our money. Hopefully this will act as a warning to others.”
