The 6-4 chance collected 10 points for his trainer plus £1,000 for his owner with a two length win over Troy Bella in 16.47 for the 277 metres.

Kennelmate Avastorm less less successful in the 659m Derby purse which went to Saving Martha in 41.19.

However victory for Cuil King in a supporting open (2 points), and Seaglass Tiger’s fifth place in the feature event (5 points) meant that Wallis is now just 49 points behind his former right hand man.

Interestingly, the fastest time over both the 462 and 659 metre courses both went to races supporting the finals.

Quickest over the standard trip was Erica Samuels’ local Scotch Mist who clocked his fastest ever calculated time over course and distance with a 27.88 (-10) run, one spot quicker than Roxholme Nidge on the night.

Fastest over the six bends was Good Karma with a 40.89 (-15) run for Lauren Sawyer’s Good Karma, who is a litter brother to Romford track record holder Riverside Honey.
