GBGB has given dispensation to four racecourses (Nottingham, Romford, Sheffield and Towcester) to use the Australian style lycra racing vests in place of the traditional racing jacket. The racing vests can include advertising in the shoulder area, in addition to type below the numeral, as approved by GBGB. A GBGB spokesperson said: “the dispensation will allow the GBGB to see how the vests perform under race conditions following successful trials at several racecourses, and to gauge any feedback during this trial period. The vests are more streamlined and secure than the traditional jacket, and due to an increased area, advertising can now be included without diminishing the overall appearance”.
