No matter who wins the Irish Derby, they will do well to overturn Killmacdonagh as Irish Track Greyhound of the Year.
There aren’t many females who can turn over the best males in training, but Kieran Lynch’s bitch did just that in the Dundalk International (see below) and has won her last five races and €57K in prize money. A mention too for Boleys Fella who set a new 600 yard track record.
At Shelbourne, the big event was the Champion 550 Final which went to Manuka Man. Peter Comerford and Tony Moore’s dog is from that superb litter out of Ballydoyle Honey that also features Killer Bee, Herecomesdahoney and Riverside Larry to name but three. Ten of the Alison Coxon bred litter have won almost €80K between them so far.
At Thurles, Cabra Salah was an impressive first round winner of the Tipperary Cup. Over in Kerry, Blue East won the Kingdom Derby but a mention too for the week’s fastest winner Allaghaun River.
