Kieran Lynch was the dominant force at the weekend winning both the Irish Oaks with Kilmacdonagh and the Drive On Tipp Open 525 with the ultimate Cork specialist Rockybay Foley
Foley, who will be four in August, has a truly astonishing record at Curraheen Park where he has won his last ten in a row and boasts an overall record over the 525 yard course of 20 wins from 23 outings.
There is also a second nomination at the same track for Farranrory Spot after the fastest 550 run in almost two years. There was also a double nomination for Tralee where it was impossible to split two very decent pups in Melodys Dido and Feora Sydney.
Another classic moved a step closer to a conclusion at Clonmel on Sunday with pup Riverside Leo clocked the fastest semi final. Elsewhere October pup Pennys Noble won an unraced stake at Newbridge in a very decent 28.48.
Finally, while this column always leans strongly towards progressive youngsters, a mention for Enniscorthy’s Karlow Crean who clocked the fastest 525 of the week at Enniscorthy as he celebrated his fifth birthday.
