Signet Mafia was the star of  Thursday’s Monmore trial session.

The unraced September ’18 son of Laughil Blake and Forest Natalee clocked 15.32 on going rated -25. To put the run into perspective, the fastest open race time this year was Droopys Reel’s 15.06 (-05).

Trainer Kevin Hutton said: “That really is some run. He did a very good sprint last week after stumbling at the traps. I did say in a write-up earlier in the year that he would push his litter brother Signet Ace. He is due to have his first four bends on Friday after clocking 15.36 (calc) last week.

“Last week we had around 40 trial. So far this week it is around 20 with another 15 tomorrow. I couldn’t be happier with how things have gone and can’t wait for racing to return.

“It has been a long wait, but I think the GBGB have been absolutely brilliant in the way they have handled the whole thing. Now let’s look forward to the return of open racing.”
