Hove runners dominated the three Ladbrokes Puppy Derby trialstakes at Monmore on Thursday.

Two of the opens (one was actually a memorial race for John Pearman) went to the Seamus Cahill trained ‘Crossfields’. First up was Crossfield Giles (Sparta Maestro-Crossfield Betty, May 15) who led home the Dean Childs pair of ‘Droopys’ Ariana and Martial in 28.50. The 11-10f had previously won opens over 285m and 475m at Hove.

Kennelmate Crossfield Hugo (Kinloch Brae-Crossfield Reese, May 15), a 28.25 (calc) trialist, went to traps at 7-4f and beat La Sicario by just under two lengths in 28.39. Both Cahill runners won on going rated -40.

Faster than either though was the Dean Childs trained Droopys Bonucci (Droopys Cain-Droopys Loner, Aug 15) who skated up by nearly 13 lengths in 28.30 (-30).
