At the time that Bull Run Bandit was withdrawn from the third round of the 2018 Star Sports Greyhound Derby, and in the same week that Oi Oi Penalty reached the semi finals of the same competition, Deanridge Kane was still growing up with his littermates in a field in County Waterford. Yet fate has contrived that all three should be meeting in the final of the Henlow Maiden Derby on Sunday.

Fastest on the clock and unbeaten to date is Paul Young’s Bubbly Spark who runs from trap five in the £5,000 decider and will probably start as favourite.

Joint racing manager Martin Race said: “He impressed me in the semi finals and looks to have a tremendous advantage on the sectionals. I think he would be better suited to the six in the final but if Dalcash Behold traps as he did last time out, he wouldn’t be too inconvenienced anyway.

“It is a very open final but if I have a slight fancy for Savana Volt who looks very well drawn on the inside with two likely to move off at the bend. He ran on very strongly in the semi finals and if they are all strung out early on, it could play into his hands.”
