18 still in the Hunt

The Bet365 Hunt Cup reaches the semi final stage at Oxford this evening with Droopys Clue as short as 2/1 to land next week’s final.

Seamus Cahill’s Greyhound of the Year looked to be at a different level in last week’s first round where he lost many lengths in running but still gave a start and a beating to great rival Havana Top Note.

A reminder of last week’s qualifiers

Entain statement

Entain’s Paul Illingworth has issued a statement following the recent incident at Crayford where a greyhound vomited on parade but was allowed to run. It led to trainer Kerry Daly relinquishing her licence.

Illingworth said: “It is disappointing that Kerry has decided to relinquish her license, but I fully understand her reasons for doing so. I want to take this opportunity to thank Kerry for her service to Crayford and the hard work that she has put in during her time as a trainer with us. We will continue to support Kerry with the winding down of the kennels over the coming weeks to ensure all the greyhounds are suitably re-housed.”

The Arena Racing Company Laurels gets underway next Saturday. This weekend sees a number of likely entries putting in sighters for the main event. It could be special.

THERE are six nominations for the Time Greyhound Nutrition-backed Greyhound of the Month award for March. They are Acomb Felix (Kevin Ferguson), Bubbly Inferno (Paul Young), Front Alice (Kevin Proctor), Queen Joni (Liz McNair), Romeo To Victory (Tom Heilbron) and Untold Dollar (Carol Weatherall).

Here is an interesting short film from Twitter which shows a fully automated betting shop. It is run by BetXS and is based in Monck Street in Wexford.

June McCombe’s Rossendale Kennel from where so many winners were trained at Belle Vue and latterly Doncaster has been put on the market.

Finally – this video was doing the rounds on social media on Thursday evening. Fans and critics of hurdle racing will surely love it for different reasons. The final tally was one DQ and two marked awkward. But which was which?
