New track record holder Curious Boy was beaten fair and square in the opening quarter final of the Irish Laurels at Cork.

The 2-5f seemed to have the race in his grasp after going past early leader Sunshine Cathy around the last bend, but Twilight Tear (5-1) cruised past him on the run-in for a length win in 28.38.

It was a bad night for punters with all four/five favourites/joint being turned over. The quickest qualifier went to English Derby first round casualty Gyp Rosetti.
