The May ’18 pup is the first open race winner from the Oaks runner-up’s third litter – four dogs and two bitches by the superb Leamaneigh Turbo. She will surely not be the last. (Skate On actually had open winners from all three different litters between Friday and Sunday).
But to put Skate On’s record into perspective it is worth checking out the figures.
Her first litter by Tullymurry Act featured one dog (King Elvis) and six bitches. The entire litter raced. Four of the six bitches (Queens: Adele Anna, Paloma and Whitney) won opens.
The other two were both lightly raced: Queens Britney (A1/D1 Cen.Pk) and Watchall Winnie, who reached a British Bred Oaks Final. Between them, the litter won 63 opens over an average distance of 401 metres
Her entire second litter of seven dogs and one bitch were all open race winners. The seven Kings: Cash, Diamond, Dylan, Lennon, Nelson, Sheeran and Sinatra. The sole Queen is Beyonce. Between them they have (so far) won 66 opens over an average distance of 485 metres.
Skate On finished Dam of the Year (Dam of Best British litter) for the last two years and will surely make it three in a row. In doing so she would equal Mega Delight. Only Trojan Silver has won it four times.
