Pinpoint Boom gave Kelly Macari her second Betfred Eclipse when running out a shock 20-1 winner of the Category One final over 500 metres at Nottingham last night.

The son of Shaneboy Lee, who had scraped through the qualifying stages, flew out of the traps and made the first turn just in front of Swift Carter and the favourite Ballymac Mossjoe.

From there he went clear of Crossfield Cesar who was moving well on the outside. However he could never get close enough to the leader, who kicked on again down the home straight to score by a length and a half in 29.74sec.

Macari, who won the race with Mill bling Bling back in 2011 said afterwards: “The boys in the kennel were quite confident all day and when he came out in front he was always going to be difficult to pass as he’s a strong running dog.

“We basically bought him for next year after some good runs at Cork and to win this race again is amazing.

“We’ll probably put him away now for next year with all the big competitions in mid for him.

“There are two new lads involved in the syndicate of four and I’m lease they have tasted success so early.”

Part owner Alan Findlay said: “We nibbled away at him all day at big prices as we quietly fancied him. We named the dog after Rab McNair as he tends to go Boom after every winner and hopefully this dog will be booming for some time to come.”
