Following a horrendous 2020, Yarmouth have bounced back with their best year of trading in some considerable time.

Promoter Simon Franklin said: “We found ourselves in quite a difficult position this time last year but thankfully 2021 has made up for it. With so many people staying in Britain, our crowds were the best in many years, not just the greyhounds but stock car too.

“There also appears to be a lot of caution about the restrictions when traveling abroad, we are hoping that the bounce will continue until at least the early part of this season. Our Boxing Day meeting is already heavily booked which is a good sign. Fingers crossed going forward.

“The other major factor for the upturn was the increase in income from media rights payments from ARC. It has made a significant difference in prize money and contracts for the local owners and trainers. It is nice to have some good news to report for a change.”

Having seen the kennel strength dip to between 210-220 dogs, it now stands at 245+ with the stadium having financed the acquisition of around 30 Irish imports and have covered the cost of the bond schemes.
