“She is as good as I’ve ever seen her and I think she can improve on her semi final NEW SHEFFIELD ADVERTform.”

Mark Wallis’ assessment was neither boastful or cautious as he assessed the chances of hot favourite Patchys Kerry in Tuesday’s Pintpoint 3 Steps To Victory Final at Sheffield. It was quite clear that he fancies the remarkable black to land a third category one event of her career having taken the Champion Stakes at Romford and Golden Jacket at Crayford.

Kerry goes into the decider at 4-11f with only one narrow defeat in her last eight races. That was an unlucky short head defeat by Catrigg Croft over the 480 metre trip where her challenge had been postponed around the last two bends prior to a late rally. She has six lengths to spare over her two closes rivals from the 500 metre semi finals and now goes over a 660 metre trip more suited to her stamina.

Wallis added: “We all know that any greyhound can be beaten, we’ve all had them. All I can say is that Kerry is absolutely bouncing and if she gets clear, and the track is anywhere near right, I would expect her to go close to the track record.”

The books rate Viking Jack (7-1) as Kerry’s most dangerous rival followed by 12-1 Satin Mark, 16-1 Thirteen Bags, 20-1 Clonkeen Snowy and 25-1 Catrigg Croft
