Old Joe Golden (Premier Fantasy-Final Gold, Jun 13) was an emphatic winner of the British Bred 480 metre final at Nottingham on Monday night.

The early lead was disputed between Damson Jam (T3 5-4f) and Leos Eclipse (T6 7-1) but it was the orange jacket of Charlie Lister’s runner which swept around the outside at the second bend. He pulled away for a length and three quarter victory in 28.91 (+10). Jam, who had won his previous six in a row, finished second.

The £500 sprint final went to Dave Allen’s Rock Of Avoca (Scolari Me Daddy-Terrors Advocate, NOTTINGHAM ADVERT2Oct 13) with a 17.79 (N) four length win. The fastest time of the night though was reserved for Natinal Sprint runner-up Laughing Gravy who posted 17.67 (+10).

In the heats for the next 480 metre competition, Richard Devenish’s Mustang Major (David Bale-Mustang Halo, Sep 13) completed a four-timer with a 28.78 ( all +10) four length win over Sidarian Blitz. The other qualifiers were won by the veteran Express Master (Kiowa Sweet Trey-Express Mist, Jul 11) who beat Swift Carter by a length in 28.80 and Swords Wizard (Zero Ten Hare St Sparkler, Oct 13) who beat Salacres David by just under four lengths in 28.92.
