Just before lockdown we had introduced some new local tipsters to the site to give their views on the RPGTV televised meetings.

We are bringing the concept back – but with a slight tweak. This time we are not just asking for selections, but pitting them against two more local experts with a view to making a profit on the night.

The idea is for a theoretical £100 stake, which can be spread up to a maximum of three bets. There is nothing actually at stake – beyond enormous bragging rights and track cred (set against total humiliation and ridicule).

For a Monday night start at Nottingham and Yarmouth we have two well know judges to call on:

At NOTTINGHAM it could only be our most prolific columnist Mark Pierrepont:

He is taking on Mal Shenton, who Mark describes as “A respected bookmaker on the independent scene around the Midlands and North West for many years as well as standing at Nottingham for many years. Now assisting local bookmaker Steve Charlesworth, he regularly offers value that punters can’t resist”.

Mark’s other challenger is local trainer Colin Wilton, described by Mark as “a great judge of racing at Nottingham.”

Coyote Breeze showed enough pace in defeat on last weeks comeback A5 effort to warrant an interest this evening , especially so given a quick downgrade to A6.  Crowding at both the first and third bends did his chances little good but he came there to challenge at the final turn before looking in need of the outing on the run for home , though only beaten 1 1/4 lengths at the finish.  Jason Gray has put a couple of kilos weight on his back recently and that can only be a positive with this dog for me.  He can lead on the inside and though Lynn Cooks Plaza Beauty rates a danger having run well on her comeback , I’m siding with Breeze to take it up by halfway at the latest and prove too good. £70 win
Westway Hector recorded an excellent 30.18 (+30) for trainer Colin Wilton when first arriving at Nottingham in February.  He looked a dog destined for a career on the open circuit and I still believe that could be the case.  Racing off 35 kilos in Ireland, Hector went down to nearer 33 kilos since arriving in the UK.  Now back up to his favoured weight he ran a promising race in a race containing fair early on his comeback.  Running from trap 2 he should comfortably lead the red jacketed Ballydoyle Jones, Wiltons own Droopys Fax though a nice type with good form against the likes of Levante Beach when trained by Ted Soppitt , will likely come on for the run whilst the strong running Killinan Fury running from trap 6 might find his path hampered at some stage by Anna Thompson’s early paced duo of Movealong Magnum and Dark Ocean drawn in traps 5 and 6 respectively. £30 win

Mal Shenton:

Race one tonight contains a couple of early paced types in Bellside Nel and Swift Lockjaw.  They can cut out the early running and set the race up nicely for Barry Denbys Tybar Onyx.  Down in class this veteran can put his late stamina to good use. £50 win
Another runner who’s stamina is unquestionable in the shape of Superb Beauty for trainer Colin Wilton.  Given that she negotiates the likely traffic on the way round without too much trouble she can prove too strong in the latter stages and open her account for the year. £50 win

Tickity Tia, for Anna Thompson, impressed in a four dog trial showing good early pace and staying on well to beat Swift Apologies.  She could well find herself in front by the first bend in this event and if doing so should prove difficult to beat in race 5. £30 win
Salacres Ocean for Peter Harnden looks sure to take the beating in race 6.  He run well on his comeback last week foiling a Jill Llewellyn hotpot in the process.  He can follow up in a race which doesn’t look anymore difficult. £70 win

Our YARMOUTH judge, and assistant to Kevin Boon, Liam Aspin made a hugely impressive start to his tipping career prior to lockdown and was an obvious first pick as the local tipster.
Liam will be taking on Andy Mullen, kennel hand to Hayley Keightley, and Nigel Tanner, kennel hand to John Mullins. Both have gone for just 1 choice on what does look a tricky card!

Liam Aspin:

The first of my £100 challenge goes in the 7:36 (R6), trap 3 Roisins Brexit. With two slow starters in Traps 1 and 2, Maurice Rice’ charge has a great chance of turning the first bend handy. Although likely to be behind trap 4 and 5 early on, she can run on to take the win. £30 win

The second of my picks goes in the 9:06 (R9), Trap 1 Bumblebee Adam. He’s a dog that’s taken a little while to get going for Derek Brighton but he looks to have a dream draw on the rail. He has fantastic early pace and with one of his usual electric breaks he can burn these off in the first half of the race. £30 win

The third and final pick goes in the last of the night, 9:36 (R10) trap 4, Jura Risky. Another for Maurice Rice and I think this grand veteran has every chance of adding too his tally. He has a nice mix of all round speed for the grade and if getting a clear run around the first bend he should have enough on the clock to take the last of the evening.£40 win

Andy Mullen: Craan Tara (R2) Liam writes: Is it a coincidence that Andy works with a close connection to the Barnard kennel and has chosen one of their runners? I think not! Clearly strongly fancied by those ‘in the know’ this evening. Craan Tara is a leading player to take the victory. £100 win
Nigel Tanner: Forgotten Angel (R4) Liam writes: A young bitch going forward for Linda Brown. I know Nigel believes she can lead up the inside and make all in the race £100 win
