Sheffield has taken on three new trainers as they strengthen their graded team and look to the future writes John Forbes.

Danny Gomersall, Rebecca Perkins and John Sharp have all been recruited to the Owlerton cause and Gomersall and Sharp will start grading in their runners right away, while Perkins will be joining them after she has worked out her notice at Kinsley. Her last meeting at the West Yorkshire track should be October 25.

General Manager Dave Perry says: “Ken Perrin has already indicated to us that he will be retiring at the end of the year and bringing in the three newcomers now will mean that they will be up and running when that happens. Danny and Rebecca are trainers at the younger end of the scale and we expect them to be with us for some time, while John is well known to Sheffield racegoers from his open race runners and he will make an impact at the top end of the grades.”
