We are into Week 2 of the Derby and the need among the Towcester quintet is niggly.

In terms of first round winners, Mick Conneely and Peter Harnden both selected 13 from the 32 events, and as we all know, not all winners are equal. So given the unique nature of our tipping contest, we’ve had to come up with a formula to suit.

The scoring has been dictated as follows. Each selection is calculated to £1, but the * selections are considered as a £2 bet, the ** are £3 and the *** are worth £4. So over the three nights and 32 races, that gives us a calculated figure of £50 invested.

On that basis, Mick Conneely just heads the field ahead of Peter Harnden. Racing Manager Andy Liselmore only picked 11 winners, but his starred selections have been running particularly well, hence the small profit.

As for Big Kev, by all means ask him about his tipping. But possibly not if you are standing on the balcony of his private box!
