Geelo Monty – fancied by many to land the Produce Stakes prior to a narrow elimination in the semis – made his long awaited debut over six bends and looked awesome at MONMORE on Thursday.

Carl Perry’s British bred (Ballymac Eske-Macys Perfect, May 15), who boasts 28.77 (500m) form at Sheffield, went from trap five as the 6-5f with Newinn Blitz drawn red (5-2)

The winner’s time was 37.61, the fastest time seen at the track in 11 months and 11 spots quicker than Rubys Rascal in another 630. Mark Wallis’ runner went from white (11-10f), with Vatican Rocco (T5) and Geelo Bullet (T2).

The in-form Hutton kennel landed the two standard 480s with Jet Stream Larry (28.30) and Dorotas Del Mar (28.50).

The £10,000 Ladbrokes Gold Cup and the £7,500 Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic take place over the next three Thursdays. The closing date for both is on Monday at 11am.
