Soberano Girl set the standard in the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Puppy heats over 480 metres.

Sean Davy’s bitch got the better of a battle with Geelo Speedo by three quarters of a length in

28.97sec.

Ted Soppitt provided the other two heat winners with Calzaghe Junior and Calzaghe Otoole.

Calzaghe Otoole made all to hold an unlucky Oscar Whisky by a fast diminishing half a length in

29.14sec.

Calzaghe Junior rode an early bump before reeling in Outdoor Cuba to score by a length and a half in

29.14sec.

In trials before racing Scurry Gold Cup winner Brogan Tee Bone beat the useful Daytime Flyer by

almost two lengths in 18.14sec (-10).

Northern Sprint sensation Walshes Hill clocked 17.81sec in his solo spin.

Geelo Snapper went quickest when beating Slick Sambuca by five and a half lengths in 17.72sec.
