Farloe Nutter was a surprise 6-1 winner of the William Hill All England Cup over 480 metres at Newcastle on Thursday night writes Jason Craddock.

George Power’s runner flew out of the boxes and was followed to the turn by Calzaghe George.

The favourite Maum Legend dropped out of the boxes but rush up to the turn to go second.

However 2014 Monmore Puppy Derby winner Farloe Nutter wasn’t stopping in front and went on to beat Maum Legend, who was third last year, by just over a length in 28.61sec.

George Power said afterwards: “We’ve put 50,000 miles on the van this year trying to win races like this and it’s great to finally do it.

“I’m pleased for the owner Kenny Glenn who really deserves this success.”

Droopys Buick is 50-1 for next year’s Derby after landing an exciting William Hill Northern Puppy Derby over 480 metres.

Camp Joker led at the opening bend from Droopys Fives with Droopys Buick in third.

Jimmy Wright’s Droopys Buick flew down the back straight and managed to pass the leader on the run-in to score by half a length in 28.54sec.

Owner Neil Conlon said: “The dog has done it the hard way in the heat and semi-final and did it the same way again tonight.

“Camp Joker is a great dog and to come from behind him was special.”

Wright said: “It was a great race to watch and to beat a good pup like Camp Joker when he led like that was brilliant.

“We’ll take him to Nottingham for the Eclipse now.”

Droopys Alessio (5-2) landed the William Hill Exclusive Mobile Offers Sprint over 290 metres.

Jimmy Wright’s runner flew out and saw off the early challenge of Colliery Jazz before going on to score by just over two lengths in 16.88sec.

Wright said afterwards: “Allessio can do it over two and four bends and has been a great servant for connections.”

Aero Inferno (3-1) was Pat Rosney’s third winner on the night in the William Hill Download the App Stakes over 480 metres.

Rosney was on the mark in the two races before the TV cameras rolled into action with Newyork City Boy, who did 29.04sec in the British bred puppy contest and Peerless Trio, who clocked 28.76sec in the Standard Puppy contest.

Pat Rosney’s Aero Inferno was soon clear and went on to hold Bramble Ted by two and a half lengths in 28.44sec.

Ribble Atom justified odds of 1-4 when landing the William Hill Marathon over 895 metres.

Mark Wallis’s runner pulled clear on the second lap to score a comfortable five and a quarter length length victory over Alma Prince in 55.83sec.

Wallis said: “She’s turning into a really good marathon bitch. She’s only very young and still improving and was only two spots off our Ayamzabella’s track record.”

Blackhouse Heidi came from last to first to land the William Hill Bet On The Move Stayers Stakes over 670 metres.

Harry William’s bitch caught long-time leader Knockbawn Caviar close home to score by three quarters of a length in 40.94sec.

William said: “She can be a madam as she has a mind of her own but she ran a terrific race. I thought she switched off at halfway but she just clicked and flew home.

“She has a 28.40sec for 480 metres here and has pace to burn. She will now be retired and go back to owner Stuart Ray’s kennels for breeding.”

Northern Flat winner Graigues Diva was successful in the Angel of the North Oaks over 480 metres.

Tommy Heilbron’s bitch was led to the third turn by Greenhill Gem but she went past to beat that rival by almost two lengths in 28.50sec.

Heilbron said afterwards: “When she was up there from the start she was always going to be tough to beat. Trap one was a big help to her.

”She will probably go to Belle Vue now to have a look before the Oaks starts later in the year.”

Liosgarbh Charl was a 6-1 shock winner of the William Hill Great North Run over 670 metres.

Gary Carmichael’s runner flew out and made the first bend in front of the favourite Elwick Glory. She eventually went on to hold Jimmy Nailed On by three quarters of a length in 40.92sec.

Gary said afterwards: “That’s the first time he has won from a box apart from trap one.

“When he trapped like that he was always going to be hard to beat. He was running well at Doncaster and has developed into a top class dog now.”
