The biggest event was the Gold Cup at Shebourne which went to Pat Guilfoyle’s Music Toour Ears, though the performance of the display of the night was arguably Slippy Cian’s 29.33 run over the 550 (Te Amo was only a spot slower earlier in the meeting).
Exceptional performances are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, but the fastest time at Limerick, by pup Cabra Firmino, surely deserves an accolade! Sure Look Listen, also impressed in the heats of an unraced stake at Waterford.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the number of older greyhounds who, due to a shortage of dogs, are now being given the chance to extend their Irish racing careers.
Dynamo Supreme (Cork), Bumblebee Kyne (Galway) and Blacksmith Ace (Waterford) have all won since the start of the month and all three are October 2012 whelps.
