Four opens on the card at Nottingham this evening and Doncaster’s Jimmy Gaskin can land the first of them with his MOANTEEN SONNY.  A winner of one event set to be staged at 716pm Gaskin’s runner does lack a recent look around but familiarised himself with the Colwick Park circuit last summer including a front running effort when clocking 3047 in defeat.  He’s improved since then with a number of solid efforts in A1 company at home venue Doncaster and with a break here he can take full advantage of likely crowding amongst the 4 middle seeded runners to his left.  Paul White’s local runner drawn in red One Day Essie sticks to her task and is drawn for a solo.  If the selection gets clear she’ll be all on to reel him in but she does warrant a second look in the place markets and at what could be huge odds on the machine a saver to win.
A tricky enough looking sprint is next up at 751pm and not a race to get too heavily involved in.  That said Gerry Ballentine’s runner NOELS FLECK has been keeping a higher class of company than most of these and comes into the race off the back of a decent win at open level at Sheffield.  He’s been a solid performer for connections at this kind of level and more often than not has won when the opportunity presents itself.  Any kind of break and he should make it win number 17 on his 49th start.
The ARC 480 Trophy Final at 821pm can see Jimmy Gaskin landing a double on the night.  He’s a dog well proven to do by far his best running when coming away and that was far from the case in last week’s heat so connections will have simply been pleased to see him qualifying.  Gaskin is well adept at getting a break from his greyhounds when it matters and that can be the case tonight with STARCASH HENRY proving extremely tough to reel in if he’s around the turn in front.
It could be a red-letter day for Jimmy Gaskin as his CROUCHS PRINCESS is selected to get back on the winning trail on her second competitive appearance post comeback.  Princess had been off the card since October but ran with huge promise that she’ll not be too long winning in a course and distance open here last week.  This 500m trip is right up her street and from what looks a nice enough draw to work from Princess can land the final open of the evening at 911pm and complete a very welcome treble in the process for the Doncaster raider.
