Doncaster’s kennel strength is rising by the week with Helen Adamson, June McCombe, Adrian McPherson and Phil Barlow all qualifying runners ready for the switch to three and then four meeting per week.

The transition will take place over two months with a third meeting due to start in November: Monday-Friday-Saturday with the additional Wednesday added to the schedule in December to allow for both the Christmas bookies before become a regular feature under the SIS banner from January.

Racing manager Stephen Gray said: “The situation changes on a week by week basis with us being less reliant on open racers on our current schedule but we need a bit longer to get all the new dogs graded. June and Adrian should each bring around 40 to the strength with Helen somewhere between 25-30.

“We know that Charlie (Lister) and Hayley (Keightley) are predominantly open race trainers though they both have young litters to come through and I am sure we will them as they are assessed for their open race potential, in which case we know they will be off elsewhere.

“At this stage, I am confident that it is all heading in the right direction, and of course, one thing that never gets mentioned on social media is we didn’t go out looking to recruit, that these trainers came to us because they like the track and what we have to offer.”
