The Cahill kennel would appear to have one hand on the Coral Regency trophy after winning two of the three qualifiers at Hove.

Fastest of the day was Ballymac Brogan who was never headed when beating Forest Gavin (two and a half lengths) in 29.91 for the 515 metres. The middle seeded Racing Post Juvenile winner can hold onto the orange jacket until next Sunday’s £7,500 decider.

Kennelmate Crossfield Cesar can retain the striped jacket with a similar style performance to beat Southern Herni (two and a half lengths) in 30.27.

The other qualifier went to 12-1 chance Millwards Master who held off Holdem Chico (two lengths) in 30.22.

The meeting proved particularly lucrative for Barry O’Sullivan who landed the £1,000 Jimmy Jupp National Hurdle with Bua Frank (8-1) and the £1,500 Coral Sussex Puppy Trophy with Mystical Dreamer (6-1).

June Harvey’s St Leger winner Fizzypop Buddy was not phased by his third appearance in a week when running away (nine lengths) with the £1,000 Ballyregan Bob Memorial in 41.93 (-45) for the 695 metres.
