Unusually for a major sprint final two puppies Scolari Sound and Mac Foiche have dominated proceedings and they are the ones to beat in the £3,000 Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint Final over 305 metres at Nottingham tonight writes Jason Craddock.

David Pruhs’ Scolari Sound is the odds-on favourite after winning his last four races at the track.

The Droopys Scolari dog set the standard in the opening round when scoring in 17.50sec and last week was soon clear before scoring by over eight lengths in 17.63sec.

Both those victories were from the same trap one he runs from tonight.

Worryingly he took a tumble on the way to the pick-up last week but if he’s none the worse for his fall, he is the one to beat.

Mac Foiche, another Peterborough runner, is an up and coming performer, who has won has won four of his last five races.

Richard Devenish’s dog has exceptional early pace and beat Scolari Sound’s kennelmate Laughing Gravy fair and square last week in 17.77sec and would be hard to hold if latching onto the bunny.

Sunderland Classic runner-up Laughing Gravy is probably better suited to four bends these days. He won in the opening round in 17.70sec and was a fast finishing runner-up to Mac Foiche last week.

Kevin Hutton’s Vanayamzaman is a class performer who won his semi-final in 17.72sec.

He’s not the most reliable at the start but if trapping level would be hard to hold.

Carol Weatherall’s Holdem Jet is the best drawn of the wide runners in six but is a big outsider after failing to make an impact in the event so far.

John Walton’s Flashing Bolt has won three of his last 25 races and has done well to get to the final but has never beaten a field like this.

Tyrur Supermac, who went quicker on the clock that the Laurels and Oaks winners on that Belle Vue card a few weeks ago, can take the supporting Stadium Bookmakers Standard over 500 metres.
