Sponsors Ladbrokes are reporting “one of the quietest nights of trading for a SKY card we have ever seen” for the Golden Jacket meeting.

The two heaviest backed dogs on the day are Diane Henry’s Borna Mindy (8.51) who has been backed from 3-1 down to 9-4 and Kevin Cobbold’s Pretty Lane (8.33) who has been clipped a full point down to 7-1.

There are few players for the 4-9 favourite (1-2f with other firms) in the feature race who carries the burden of trying to defy the ante post burden.

But are punters being put off by superstition more than logic?

In the last 21 finals, the outright favourite has won six times. The last greyhound to start at shorter than 1-2f was Heavenly Lady in 1993 and she did the biz at 2-5f.
