Monmore have confirmed that their forthcoming Lawrence Jones Memorial Festival, in honour of their popular former trainer and scheduled for next Thursday January 12 – will be a 14 race all-open-race card.

Although the track have advertised ten races over a variety of distances including confined stakes, there will be duplications for the four strongest distances. Entries close on Monday at 11am.

Elaine Parker and Kevin Hutton look likely to be heavily represented with Mrs Parker’s exciting bitch pup Droopys Live producing a magnificent 480m trial on her first look at the course (this morning). She beat the highly capable Lowgate Malfoy by three bodylengths in 28.94 (-80). To put the run into some perspective, Olympic finalist Huarche Scotty recorded 29.11 (-80) in the next trial.

Perry Barr A1 regular Springwater clocked 29.11 (-80) at the same session while Holmes Memorial winner Candlelight Fire beat kennelmate Coolavanny Rebel by a head in 29.16 on similar going.

Oaks/Leger finalist Huarache Madison had a spin over the 210m course – 12.17 (-30), while Lightfoot Mata made his long anticipated six bend debut with a very impressive 38.85 (-100) 630m trial despite stumbling badly at the boxes.

Paul Young, Seamus Cahill, Doreen Walsh, Phil Simmonds and Patrick Janssens all had trialists on Monday.
