GBGB have responded to Oxford’s statement today concerning issues over the functioning of the starting traps.
A spokesperson for GBGB said: “We have raised concerns with the team at Oxford Stadium around the trap mechanical failures on two occasions over the past few weeks and have received assurances that they have identified and addressed the issue ahead of tonight’s race meeting. As always, however, we will be monitoring the situation closely and will continue to work with the track on whatever further action, if any, is necessary and appropriate.”
Meanwhile Jimmy Wright, assistant trainer to Angela Harrison has announced the withdrawal of RPGTV Puppy Collar finalist, Moanteen Lennox.
Jimmy said: “I have spoken to the owners of the dog and we have agreed not to run the dog due to situation with the starting traps. I have contacted my stipendiary steward to explain our position. This is nothing personal against the track or Kevin Boothby, but I don’t consider that the traps are safe. In my view there is no issue with the hare driving, it is simply the traps that are not fit for the job.”
