“Don’t worry about me lads, I’ll only slow you down”

Jimmy Fenwick’s decision not to take part in the Tuesday challenge – to throw himself under the wheels of the hypothetical tipster bus, rather than risk damaging the reputation of his team – proved a good one as Jimmy Wright and Steve Anderson took the opportunity to show off at NEWCASTLE.

The proud Jock had £60 on a 7-4 winner and despite getting a bit ahead of himself by trying (and failing) to tip a 13-2 winner, he still finished the night with a £65 profit. Steve ‘Bramble’ Anderson was clinical – two from two – for a £105 profit. (He dedicated the second winner to Jimmy Fenwick)

Meanwhile SHEFFIELD punters should start looking for a new name on the racecard, Alphonsus J Cartwright.

Carl Perry has decided to change his identity after another -£100 performance. (Roger J Hanratty III – the trainer formerly known as ‘Tony Collett’, filled in the forms for him). Not that the remaining members of Team Sheffield have much to brag about. Darren Driver ‘chose the wrong one’ with just £25 on Willy The Ram (was probably talked out of going all-in by Alphonsus J Cartwright), for a loss of £43.75. To put some spin on Glynn Hobbs‘ effort – he was no worse than Alphonsus’s. But no better either!

SUNDERLAND

Sam Linley said: “The two new challengers I’ve known for years, and have both been part of our kennel in the past.

“First up is trainer George Stark, him and his father, Hugh use to have dogs in with us years ago. George has been training dogs for several years now. We also have Graham Strike, who was a kennel hand for us many years ago. He also took out a license himself and also has been training for many years.”

Drumdoit Paddy (R2 T5) This race to me looks a two dog match, I’m going with Drumdoit Paddy. He came out sideways last week and once straightening up showed good pace to the corner and got trouble which ruined any chances of winning last time. A better exit tonight should see him contending the lead and be too strong for the opposition. The other runner in the race in my opinion is Lonesome Fawn (T3). He has looked good in trials so far but with no race experience it is a big ask to win on debut. £65 win

Laughil Jake (R10 T6) This is the best race of the night and I think he can beat the likely favourite and in form kennel mate Fairholme Posh. She ‘double pinged’ in her last race. But Laughil Jake has a more consistent trapping record, and in my opinion, more all round pace. He won very easily last time in an easier A1 than tonight but a repeat of last weeks race should see him leading all the way £35 win

George Stark

Saint Carthage (R3 T3) Probably my best chance of a winner on tonight’s card. She is lightly raced and has been running well enough in level offs without winning. If she traps and leads I think she should go well after a satisfactory 450 trial last time £30

Fairyfield Major (R7 T2) I think Major has been given a generous start in this handicap. With Lauren’s Layla T1 running through a season and some possible crowding in behind on the run up I see him as the most likely winner £30

Grimes Lady (R9 T2) With her getting on a bit she may not be quite the force of old however I think she will come on from last week’s race, with it being her first four bend race in some time. She is more than capable of leading from trap to line. £40 win

Graham Strike

Lonesome Fawn (R2 T3) Making debut but has very good ep slow starters either side should give this dog a solo and needs to find very little of trial runs to be competitive. £60 win.
Saint Carthage (R3 T3) Been fancied in 2 level breaks and not delivered but looks like handicaps will suit £40 win

YARMOUTH

Liam Aspin writes: “Tonight sees the Nigel ‘The Cash Machine’ Tanner attempting to show that last week’s blip was a computer error. George Turner – who delivers more often than Amazon will also be attempting to put right the wrongs of last time out! As for me. . .” (We would say ‘its the taking part that counts’ – but we all know that’s bull – Ed)

For what my selections have been worth lately you’d be far better off laying them. They seem to go off short prices but get beat! Tonight I’m hoping Peterborough raider Cash is Gold (R6 T5) is one of those that finally gets over the line! He brings A2 form over with him and I think if getting a clear run around the first then he should have enough middle gears to pull clear and win this A4. £100 win

Nigel ‘The Cash Machine’ Tanner

Nigel also went for one selection on the card and that goes to Paul Burr’s Tullymurry Voice (R5 T6). Nigel said, “This could be a messy race with lots of early pace dogs on the inside. I think she could pick up the pieces on the outside. She caught the eye on Friday at Romford when nearly chasing down Agile Dorotas.  £100 win

George Turner:

For George there is just one selection, Rosker Flash (R8 T1). George said, “Missed the kick a bit last week on debut and recovered too show pace too the 3rd and 4th bends. Least unexposed runner in the field and was A1 Shelbourne on final Irish run, I do think he will be too good for these and hopefully will put me back on track after my poor showing couple weeks ago!”  £100 win
