Two track records at opposite ends of the scale were features of Tuesday’s Betfred Steel City Cup undercard at Sheffield.

The first was a new 280m best for Walk The Talk (Vans Escalade-Bling Bling Plum, Aug 14) who shaved a spot off Droopys Quincy’s previous best with a 15.69 win. Patrick Janssens’ black had previously won over course and distance in 15.75.

To date, there have only been five races held over the track’s 934m course and the quickest until Tuesday evening was Barley Bussell’s 57.69. That was until Ribble Atom (Godsend-Swift Erin, Jul 13) covered the same metreage in 56.78.

Ballymac Deirdre (Droopys Scolari-Ballymac Razl, Mar 14) became the third fastest bitch over the 480m course with her 27.56 run. The two quicker ladies are Roxholme Dream (27.38) and the 500m track record holder Domino Storm (27.52). The 480m clock belongs to the locally bred Candlelight King (27.32).
