With Yarmouth on the TV more often than the 6 o’clock news, we’ve just gone with a single offering tonight and a first appearance on the Tipsters Challenge for Sunderland with three assistant trainers.

First a review of last night and some lean pickings. Of the six SHEFFIELD selections, only one was duplicated, and thanks to Referendum (6-5f) – who is looking and more like the real deal – Carl Perry came out with a first loss to date of £12, and Conor Wrigglesorth made a £10 profit on the night. Nick Taylor lost his bus fare home after his sole selection, Harton Hurricane bounced off the rail at the first bend and finished last.

Meanwhile at NEWCASTLE, Jimmy Fenwick and Brian Usher were hugely dependent on Jimmy having a good night. He did – sort of. He had three winners. UNFORTUNATELY – their trainer didn’t pick any of them. To make matters worse, Severiano (ev.f) was beaten by kennelmate Supa Moana (5-1). On the plus side, Brian had more faith in Skywalker Bonnie (£50 @ 15-8f) so made a £43 profit on the night

Ian Walton – an all-or-nothing kind of guy was made to sweat by the ring rusty Droopys Carat though the 4-5f held on in a photo finish. Nevertheless the £100 at 4-5f gave him an £80 profit on the night.

SUNDERLAND

The Sunderland trio are headed by Sam Linley, assistant to his mum Shirley. Sam said: ” First we have Chris Leeson, assistant to Graham Strike who has been at Sunderland many years. He has worked for Eddie McDermott in the past and also took to training himself after Eddie retired.

“Secondly there is Krista McNicholas who is assistant to her sister Chantelle, came straight into the dog game after education. She follows all the dogs and reads race cards very well.”

The views:

Sam Linley:

Beaming Elmer (R2 T6) This race looks to be hers as I don’t think she has fulfilled her potential here at Sunderland. There is a lot of pace inT1 & T2 which I think will spoil each other and if Elmer makes one of her better exits is certain to lead the outside and can make all. £40 win

Ferryforth Jack (R4 T1 ) Jack is my nap of the night and is one of ours. He hasn’t trapped his best since returning back to racing from lock down. T2 looks to contest the lead with Jack but if he is level, I expect him to ease around the outside. He sees the trip out well, so in my opinion, if he is in front going down the back he wont get caught. £60 win

Krista McNicholas:

Emmas Angel (R3 T1) She was in season just before lock down. She’s has ran two good races on her return so she looks to be coming right. She looks set for a good run on the rail as she has good early and a slow starter in trap 2 will give her room to show her early. She just failed to hold on last week but hoping this week she goes one better to £60 win

Stride On Flash (R12 T2)  This bitch was in good form before lock down and in this race she looks to have the better early and will have a big chance to lead and will take some catching. £40 win

Chris Leeson:

Manvers Melody (R5 T5) Shes a good A2 bitch when right and this looks a moderate A3 to me. Our kennel dog gabriel will want to be in over going into the first corner so should get a nice run to the first bend and make all £60 win

Fahee Jess: (R6 T3) Her season is a bit of a concern but does look nicely placed for a change. Will need to lead trap 4 witton pearl who ran on really well last week. £40 win
