Following some brilliant displays in the first week, the anniversary of the start of the Tipping Challenge was, to use a word loved by all politicians, . . . .challenging.

Mark Pierrepont drew a blank at Nottingham but Peter Harnden showed a  net profit of £30 courtesy, of a £30 tilt @ 100-30 on Salacres Manny.

At Yarmouth, Liam Aspin went with the wrong one! Barrack Bray (£70) was turned over though Quivers Joy £30 @ 3-1 came good for a £20 profit.

Dean Munnings split his stake and saw John Mullins’ exciting young pup Notouttheway – £50 @ evens – ensure a level night though Vigorous Kevin was unable to turn it into a profit. Kevin Boon’s selections will be crossing the winning line any time soon.

NEWCASTLE

We go with the same Newcastle trio as last Thursday with the gentle reminder that anything better than a combined £288 loss will be an improvement!

Last Stronghold (R3 T4) I thought he was very unlucky in running last time out. He is very strong in second half of race £25 win

Severanio (R7 T1) I am delighted that he is drawn in trap 1. He has early, stays the trip out well should make every post a winning one. £30 win

Finish It (R9 T4) A September 18 pup having his second race tonight. Nice all round pace, I think he’s say my best chance on night £45 win

Brian Usher:

Last Stronghold (R3 T4) Often finds trouble in running and tends to be unlucky. However if it secures anything like a decent run I expect it to win  £30 win

Severiano (R7 T1) has a good make up and if trapping in best style should secure a run on the rail and lead off the second bend and go on to win.  £20 win

For the nap this evening I am looking to Skywalker Bonnie (R12 T2) a very promising youngster that ran well in a very hot heat last week. She can lead on the inside and hopefully get first run on the rail and go on and win. £50

Ian Walton:

Droopys Carat (R10 T4) Class is permanent – should go close £100 win

SHEFFIELD

The Dream Team all turned big profits in the first week. Can they keep it going?

Tuesday night into our second week still all to play far just the three runners on the card far the kennel a winner far us will be a shock one. But still there’s few nice bets on the card I’ve sniffed out

Swift Perplex (R4 T6) was just about to turn the bend very handy last week and took a bump was still only beat just under 2 lengths. There is no pace on his inside can see him turning the bend in front and should open up down the back he’s 4 from 13 and think he’s lot better than A5 £30 win
In race nine I will take a chance on a bitch going through the grades very well and who has come back even better from lock down. I was impressed with her early pace last week to win a good A3. This is a step up in class but can see her leading the inside pair and being the one to catch T6 who will pose  a big danger if turning handy. But I like a bitch in form so go with Keefil Grace (R9 T2) to make all £30 win
Referendum (R11 T3) was picked up bye our Geelo Brezza last time out but he should strip fitter for the race. He’s going to have a battle to the bend with Coolavanny Dylan on his outside but on last week’s race I have to favour Referendum to win this top class D1 sprint. £40 win

Nick Taylor:

All my eggs are in one basket again today. There was enough hints in his last trial to suggest Harton Hurricane (R10 T2) is open to a good amount of improvement over the next couple of runs, I’m not sure what the thinking is behind putting him in the blue jacket but it’s a negative. He’s a bang middle runner but luckily for him there isn’t much early pace outside him, as long as he gets a clear run in behind the one, he could very well go on to score by a good 4-5 lengths. £100 win

Conor Wrigglesworth:

Cabriol Curtis (R2 T4) was outclassed last week in a very tough D2 and still ran his heart out to come third. I think this is an easier race for him tonight. However, if Ashgrove Lola comes back to her previous form before lock down when she clocked a 16.29 it will certainly be good enough to beat him. £50 bet
My second choice of the night is another sprinter, Referendum (R11 T3). He ran very well in defeat last week when Geelo Brezza came from behind to win, probably one of the hardest D1s seen at Sheffield for quite some time. Tonight’s D1 looks a little less intense and if Referendum runs like he did last week I’m sure he’ll have a good chance. The main danger looks to be the improving youngster Barrie Draper’s Keefill Finn who clocked his fastest time last week doing a 16.07. You can never rule out Coolavanny Dylan if he takes a flyer, but tonight selection is Referendum £50 win
