Locally trained Droopys Tamera clocked the fastest times of the night over four and eight bends when landing the £2,500 Carlsberg Kent St.Leger at Crayford.

Dean Childs’ black carried unbeaten form over course and distance as she was loaded into the traps for the 714 metre decider and never looked like letting down supporters.

She blasted clear of Our Bellissima on the first lap where she recorded an open class 23.25 split.

As Bellissima faded it was left to Golden Jacket winner Wiki Waki Woo to attempt to reduce an eight and a half length deficit.

Although Angie Kibble’s black managed to reduce the margin to just under five lengths, Tamera was already home and hosed.

Her winning time of 45.02 was three spots slower than her rival had achieved when landing the £17,500 Jacket decider in February.

Trainer Dean Childs said: “I was delighted with the performance, she runs the track very well. The next stop is the St.Leger at Wimbledon.”

The kennel are hoping that Tamera will be joined by her litter brother Millwards Teddy who is due to trial at Hove on Monday following an operation to remove a tendon.

Childs said: “The injury wasn’t a problem, it is more about the timing of it.”
