Twelve tipsters – TWO WINNERS – on the first night.

Wallis – Mark – present yourself to the front of the group. Congratulations – £30 on 4-1 winner Savana Cody. £50 profit. Well done. Top of the class.

Corden – Nathan. Step forward please. £40 on a 9-4 winner – £30 profit. Very good. Go and stand next to Wallis.

The rest of you . . . .You know! You know!.

Nathan Corden

Bubbly Magnum (Ht11 T5) impressive trial with a 4.99 split. Should have enough early to lead and stay in front. £30 win
Coolavanny Chick (Ht14 T6) good first look when straight off the boat. Three four and five could cause themselves trouble and the one could potentially turn right hampering the two leaving the strong running six a clear run. £30 win
Ballydoyle Valor (Ht15 T1) a strong runner who will love the long run in at Nottingham. £40 win

Rob Crawford

I would imagine that a number of my fellow tipsters will be waking up this morning with the tipping hangover from hell, saying “I am never tipping again”, last night was like a bloodbath! Well it was, except for those wily old foxes Messrs Wallis and Cordon, who would have thought that having a glass of water between races would help?

But what did we learn from last night? (Other than if Dean O’Brien says lets get another round of tequila to say no!) We learnt that early pace and avoiding trouble at the first bend wins that race or look for a dog trained by Pat Buckley, who had a tremendous hattrick on evening! So today that is what I am going to look for.

I keep coming back to Bower Luke (Ht10 T6), I know Pat Rosney spoke very eloquently earlier in the week to The Greyhound Star about seeding, but I actually think that being in trap 6 could be an advantage in this heat and will enable this September 17 dog (who’s third birthday is actually tomorrow) to get loose on the front and come home at a decent price. £100 win

Paul Gebhard

Wolfe (Ht10 T2)  classy animal who’s been in with the best, I am a fan of Jumeirah Sprite but he hasn’t had a race for nine weeks, Bubbly Bollinger did a smart first trial at the track but 500 metres on possibly soft going in a race at this stage of his career puts me off from a punting point of view; so it’s the Wolfe for me £30 win.

Southwood Jet (Ht13 T1) smart performer, proven winner, I’d sooner back him at 3/1 than Faughan Rebel at 7/4 (nearly 3 years old yet to win an open); £30 win.

Kilara Icon (Ht16 T2) again all about value, tonight I’d sooner take 8/1 about the battle hardened recent Irish Derby Finalist than the forecast 8/11 about Newinn Session; £30 win £10 treble

Peter Harnden

Southwood Jet (Ht13 T1) £40 win

Distant Village (Ht 15 T6) £40 win £20 double

Both look plotted up to get solos in their respective races and both more than good enough to take advantage

Patrick Janssens

Doolin Duke (Ht9 T5) well drawn Lenson Whelan will go left £30 win
Wolfe (Ht10 T2) Very well drawn and runs Nottingham well  £50 win £20 double

Rab McNair

Southwood Jet (Ht13 T1) been impressed with this dog since I first saw him at Hove. Runs Nottingham well got his box £30 win

Amka Rof (Ht14 T1) seen this dog a few times. A good dog in one think Lenson Bocko moving out will give one plenty of oom £30 win

Newinn Liz (Ht16 T4) could be very messy in inside three turning left could give Liz good run to the bend and thought she ran well last time £30 win £10 treble

David Mitchell

Droopys Addition (Ht9 T2) I’m a big fan of this dog for the Ernie Gaskin kennel and with the right draws throughout this competition I think he’ll go well. He’s got loads of early pace and a nice draw to work from if he gets clear he won’t be coming back. £50 win

Wolfe (Ht10 T2) I absolutely love this dog, he’s produced top class efforts on both sides of the water and tonight he can send a signal out to the competition. I don’t think there is a faster dog in this from the second bend to the third and we’ll see that tonight. If he get a clear run at it he’ll power away from them. £50 win

Steve Nash

Doolin Duke (Ht9 T5) It’s obvious from an opening night treble that Pat Buckley’s dogs are flying and, crucially, improve greatly for just one look at Nottingham. With the added possibility of traffic problems on the inside it will be no surprise if Doolin Duke adds to his tally. £30 win

Coolavanny Bani (Ht11 T2) Strong heat with five runners prominent in the outright market. Plenty of early pace expected from 4 5 & 6 but I like Angela Harrison’s bitch who starts and stays. 29.53 prep trial off a 5.00 sectional, she won a 680 round here in March so will have plenty in the tank latter stages. Just needs to secure a good pitch early. £40 win

Bockos Doomie (Ht 16 T3) Fantastic heat to complete opening round. Needs a decent break but if this bang railer and prolific winner gets out he’ll make things very difficult for well fancied (and greatly respected) Newinn Session and Kilara Icon. £30 win

Mark Pierrepont

Coolavanny Bani (Ht11 T2) a bitch who has it all early pace and stamina to boot. Can lead up and won’t be back run if she does £50 win
Faughan Rebel (Ht9 T6) doesn’t really want to be drawn this far out but carries a wide tag so he’s going to have to make the most of it throughout his time in the competition. Winnable race tonight though and can back up his excellent recent trials. £50 win

Pat Rosney

Bower Luke (Ht10 T6) Even though it’s a terrible draw I still think with a level break he can show his massive early pace and lead up. He’s in super form £40 win

Southwood Jet (Ht13 T1) Been very impressed with this dog at Nottingham and he’s very well drawn £40 win  £20 double

Mark Wallis

Two from three (Antigua Boy/Sober Express) of ours qualified last night with Antigua Romeo just missing out when 4th in his tough heat. Both of our runners tonight Hopes Bullet and Hopes Doggy have tough heats and it will be fingers crossed they can qualify as both will come on for the races

Not easy finding winners but I thought King Cash (Ht12 T6) had a good make up in heat 12 and if he shows a bit more early than he did in a tough trial stake recently he could lead round the first bend and the 6/1 looks worth taking £20 win

In heat 13 Richard Rees must be licking his lips with the draw for Southwood Jet (Ht13 T1) who has looked impressive. Faughan Rebel has turned a few eyes in recent workouts at Nottingham trials are for show and racing is for the dough. While maximum respect is given to the mega fast Sparta Master and Graham Holland’s Feudal Spirit, both of these will have to make way for Jet £40 win

For my third choice I thought Matt Dartnall’s Distant Village (Ht15 T6) can lead all the way from a plot draw in six. £30 win £10 treble

Jimmy Wright

Bower Duke (Ht2 T6) Great draw good break hopefully make all £40
Distant Village
(Ht 15 T6) Good draw outside get position round 1st and 2nd bend and hit the front  £40 win £20 double
