Romany Rouge (Head Bound-Milliesupreme, May 13) set a new 805m track record at Peterborough on Wednesday night.

In an uncompetitive open that was spread out over 36 lengths, the 2-5f was 10 lengths clear at the sectional and nine and a half clear at the winning line which he crossed in 50.68, half a length inside the previous best.

It was a good night for Richard Devenish’s British bred litter with sister Glatton Gunner taking the 435 open and Kerrys Gold landing a graded race.
