Monmore staged the first set of Track Championship Finals on Saturday night which resulted in three competitive finals going to different kennels.

Lee Field’s Delboys Carbra (Droopys Jet-Pronot Cabra, Dec 17) completed a hat-trick when landing the 264 metre sprint. The 3-1 chance just held off favourite Tommys Control in a calculated time one spot quicker than his heat win.

The 480 metre decider went to Brian Thompson’s pup Jazzer Man (Superior Product-Colarhouse Vicky, Feb 18). In a race dominated for around 400 metres by Ballymac Wizard, the slow going worked to the advantage of 7-1 shots Man and Ballymac Saga who were separated by three quarters of a length on the line.

The 630 decider proved to be the least competitive of the three deciders with Chris Jones’ Bit View Yeates (Kinloch Brae-Business Asusual, Jun 17) performing like a 4-5f should with a seven length win in a decent 38.58 (-70).

Racing manager Tony Williamson said: “The new competitions have been great new events for the best graded dogs on the tracks. They have been well received with positive feedback from owners and trainers, and also from my racing office team. They add some extra sparkle and enhance and reward the quality of dogs and trainers we are lucky to have.”

On the supporting card, Droopys Reel (Azza Azza Azza-Droopys Dorothy, Oct 17) completed an eight-timer with a decent 15.33 (-20) for the 264 metres. (She was the fastest hound over c&d in 2019 with a 15.09).

Kennelmate Droopys Live finished third behind Ridgedale Max (Taylors Sky-Ridgedale Look, Mar 16) in a race littered with Cat 1 finalists though Max’s winning time of 38.78 (-80) was eclipsed was a promising run from Slaneyside Izzy (Pat C Sabbath-Slaneyside Selma, Jul 17) with a 38.09 (-40) run for Kevin Hutton.
