With the £20K Premier Greyhound Racing All England Cup due to close at noon today, and get underway on Thursday, trainer Jason Gray has been reminiscing on the 2022 Newcastle decider that contained all the elements of a Disney movie.

Mickys Barrett’s victory, following a near miss in the English Derby, would have been too unbelieveable to be scripted.

But it actually happened.

Following a losilng battle against injury, connections decided to call it a day four weeks ago.

But for his trainer, army of owners, and anyone swept up in the tidal wave of emotion, his expoits will never be forgotten.

Jason shares his memories and plans for Micky’s future:

Three weeks after a British bred 1-2-3-6 in the English Puppy Derby, the Bet365 (English) Puppy Oaks will almost see another home bred heading the betting for next week’s decider.

(In addition, Queen Dusty – sixth in that decider – will contest her fourth Cat 1 final.)

Yesterday’s semi finals saw a double for Patrick Janssens with La Gitana and 17 month old Deelish Nora both running out 11-4 winners.

Though the man who handled the best British bred bitch produced thus far by breeder David Firmager, Fabulous Azurra, will know that David Mullins and Fabulous Terra will present his biggest obstacle in the £10K decider.
