La Maqina landed the main race of the day in the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Final over 500 metres at Nottingham writes Jason Craddock.

Steve Race’s runner, the 11-4 joint favourite, was led to the turn by Rafas Wee Pet but forced his way past for a near three length victory in 30.01sec.

Race was also on the mark with Head Iton Boris in the heats of the Betfred.com Sprint over 305 metres,

The son of Droopys Scolari was soon clear and went on to hold Hammer Home by a neck in 17.92sec.

The other heat went to Yarmouth raider Montis Buster, who overcame early trouble to score a two and a half length victory over Lemon Pluto in 17.99sec.

Fit Right went fastest in the Betfred.com Maiden Trophy heats over 480 metres. David Pruhs’ runner showed great pace down the back straight to lead at the third turn and come home seven and a half lengths clear of Rossa Wonder in a fastest 28.85sec.

UK debutant Hovex Prince, a 28.27sec Shelbourne Park winner, landed the other qualifier when giving a start and a four and a half length beating to kennelmate Drahbeg Lord in 28.89sec.

 

Eden The Kid was the most eye-catching in trials before racing when going quickest over 500 metres.

The Wimbledon track record holder clocked 29.37sec in his prep run for the forthcoming Category One British Breeders Stakes over course and distance.

Dave Firmager’s pair Fabulous Milan and Fabulous Zita, also bound for the same race, recorded 30.05sec and 30.16sec respectively.

Scottish Derby finalist La Cuchilla clocked 29.85sec.
