Droopys Hunch can make it six wins from her last eight races in the quarter finals of the Dublin Coach Juvenile Derby over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park on Friday.
Murt Leahy’s bitch was beaten in the opening round but made amends in last week’s second round when leading at halfway to beat Broadstrand Bono by two and a half lengths in 28.16sec.
The Droopys Sydney bitch is the only wide seed in the contest and with two moderate breakers inside her she can forge clear down the far side.
Broadstrand Bono re-opposes and cannot be ruled out from a good draw in red, while Jaytee Storm, who beat the highly rated Skywalker Canny last week in 28.37sec is another big runner.
Brinkleys Kid is fancied to take the scalp of Ballymac Cooper in the opening eliminator. Pat Buckley’s dog showed phenomenal early pace last week to go well clear before tiring in the closing stages when holding Deanridge Sirius by a head in 28.21sec.
The son of Droopys Roddick is well drawn on the fence and can soon be calling then shots.
Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Cooper, the Champion Unraced Stake winner, reached the quarter finals of the Irish Derby and will be a big runner if gaining a clear path to the opening bend.
Sole seeded runner Newline Darn Hot can take the second qualifier. Robert Gleeson’s runner made all to score in a slick 28.26sec last week and can dominate on the outside.
Skywalker Canny, one of the ante-post favourites after clocking 28.02sec in a pre-event trial, would be a big runner in trap one if finding his trapping boots.
Antigua Boy is the other big player. The son of Droopys Jet beat Ballymac Cooper by four lengths last week and a similar break would make him hard to catch.
Deanridge Sirius is given the vote in the third qualifier. Ian Reilly’s runner ran a cracker to get within a head of fast winner Brinkleys Kid and can get first run on main rival Battle Cry.
Paul Hennessy’s bitch has won her last three including last week’s heat In 28.42sec and looks a future stayer.
