LATEST SHEFFIELDTop Irish brood Glen Padden Bay has thrown a string of top class ‘Glenpaddens’ in her litters to Droopys Scolari and Ace Hi Rumble – ‘Rock’, ‘Ace’, ‘Bolt’ etc, but she might have surpassed herself with the 20 month old Fourpenny Lake.

The daughter of the exciting young sire Scolari Me Daddy, the near 29 kilo black, who qualified in 29.22 (500) was hugely impressive in only the second race of her career on Tuesday. Led up by Expresso Blue, the Barrie Draper trained 2-1 chance showed tremendous gears from halfway to win by three and a half lengths in 28.12 for the 480m.

Earlier on the same card there was also a very promising win, second time out, for Lightfoot Mikel (Forest Master-Lightfoot Molly, Aug 14). The Elaine Parker trained brindle, a half brother to the similarly prefixed ‘Mata’ and ‘Scholar’, trapped slowly but powered through to win in 28.29 (N)
